To hell with the pigeonholes! In the last year or so a group of mostly unrelated producers from both sides of the Atlantic have struck on a sound that combines the production techniques of modern electronica, Dub, Hip hop & RnB with a more post punk, goth & shoegaze/drone outlook. Adding more than just a little touch of the occult & references to horror films & soundtracks, they have grown out of the Hauntology movement, creating atmospheric & heavy psychedelic music for dark nights.
The 1st of the 2 mixes is unbeatmatched & more esoteric with the tracks flowing nicely into each other, I've added a few samples for atmosphere and some tracks from (IMO) the illegitimate godfathers of the sound Boards of Canada, V/Vm, Burial & Shackleton.
